Development plans for Greendykes include around 900 new homes, 150 of which have already been completed. New public realm including community and amenity parks and a major new public parkland is also planned.
EDI are working with CEC and other stakeholders for the creation of strategic open space for the local community and wider City. Our aim is to provide a substantial area of parkland adjoining Greendykes with pedestrian and cycle linkages from Craigmillar to the BioQuarter.
A planning application has been submitted for the development of a new community park in Craigmillar, as part of the EDI Group’s proposals to regenerate the area.
The plans for Greendykes North Park are part of an overall masterplan to provide high-quality greenspace and leisure amenities for the community and affirm Craigmillar as a desirable place to live, work and visit.
The submission of the planning application follows a series of workshops and events held with the local community and stakeholders by Edinburgh-based Landscape Architects, HERE+NOW. With their previous creative approach in engaging with community in design processes, the firm was appointed by EDI to put the community at the heart of the park’s design from the outset in efforts to create greenspace which reflects local needs, interests and knowledge.01-03-2017
