EDI GROUP WELCOMES PLANNING APPROVAL FOR NEW BRUNSTANE MASTERPLAN

The EDI Group has welcomed the approval of the New Brunstane Masterplan following the meeting of the City of Edinburgh Council’s Development Management Committee (19th April).

A proposal for 1,330 new homes – including over 300 affordable – the development will be one of the first major housing sites included in the recently adopted Local Development Plan to come forward, providing a family-focused neighbourhood complete with a local centre and new primary school.

New Family Homes for Edinburgh as Planning Application Submitted for New Brunstane

  • New Brunstane Masterplan submitted following extensive consultation
  • Up to 1,330 homes to be delivered; with the Scottish Government stating that over 25,000 needed in Edinburgh over next 10 years
  • New school, leisure facilities and green spaces proposed as part of the masterplan
  • Over 100 full time equivalent construction jobs will be created, with the development generating an additional £71m for the regional economy.

An application for Planning Permission in Principle (planing reference 16/04122/PPP) has been submitted by The EDI Group for New Brunstane. A major housing-led masterplan in the south east of Edinburgh, New Brunstane will play a significant role in helping Edinburgh meet its housing requirements.

Up to 1,330 family homes are to be part of the masterplan, with the application the first to be submitted of the key strategic sites earmarked by both the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government to help Edinburgh ease its housing shortage and meet future growth targets.

EDI submitted a Proposal of Application Notice back in December 2015. Since that time, they have been working closely with the local community and stakeholders on the emerging masterplan for New Brunstane with community consultation events held in March and May of this year. Feedback received at these events, along with ongoing discussions with statutory bodies has helped shape the final plans.

The masterplan, which includes 23% of its land area as green spaces, is well positioned and in close reach of three railway stations, along with bus stops and pedestrian and cycle routes.

Masterplan and vision for New Brunstane shared with community at second consultation event

EDI has shared its emerging masterplan and vision for New Brunstane at a second consultation event. The pre-application consultation event relating to the land at Brunstane in Edinburgh, provided local residents, politicians and community groups the chance to view the proposed masterplan in the second of two events held by the developer.

The event completes the pre-application consultation activity relating to land at Brunstane in Edinburgh and was a chance to see how the comments and feedback received at the previous consultations have informed the New Brunstane masterplan development.

Over 170 attendees came to meet with the developers and find out more about the proposed vision and provide feedback on EDI’s plans.

For anyone who missed the pre-application community consultation event, the masterplan exhibition will be on display at Portobello Library from 19-23 May and thereafter at the White House in Craigmillar, from 24-27 May. Feedback forms will be available at these locations for any comments on the proposal.

EDI to host second community consultation event

The EDI Group Limited will share its proposed masterplan for New Brunstane with the community at a second event on 18 May at the King’s Manor Hotel.

This will complete the pre-application consultation activity relating to the land at Brunstane in Edinburgh and will showcase the final proposals intended to be submitted for a planning permission in principle.

Local residents, politicians and community groups are invited to attend the event on Wednesday 18 May from 3pm to 8pm at the King’s Manor Hotel, Milton Road East and see how the comments and feedback received at pre-application consultations have informed the New Brunstane masterplan development.

For anyone who cannot attend this pre-application community consultation event, the final masterplan proposals will be on display at Portobello Library from 19-23 May and thereafter at the White House in Craigmillar, from 23-26 May.

The pre-application consultation event relating to the land at Brunstane in Edinburgh, provided local residents, politicians and community groups the chance to view the proposed masterplan in the first of two events being held by the developer.

Attendees at the event were able to meet with the developers and find out more about the proposed vision and provide feedback on EDI’s plans to deliver well designed, high quality modern homes, alongside other proposed amenities such as a new primary school, leisure facilities and community spaces.

EDI to host community consultation event to share masterplan vision for New Brunstane

The EDI Group Ltd will host a community consultation event on 8 March 2016 at the Kings Manor Hotel, Milton Road, to introduce its masterplan vision for New Brunstane, Edinburgh. The event is a drop in session taking place from 3pm until 8pm.

Local residents, community and stakeholder groups and all interested parties are encouraged to come along and find out more about the overall vision for Brunstane, meet the project team, ask questions and have the opportunity to comment on the emerging masterplan.

This event forms part of the planning application process being undertaken by EDI following its Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) submission in December 2015. EDI is committed to undertaking thorough consultation with the community, stakeholders and the Council to help bring forward a sensitively conceived and well-designed masterplan for the area.

EDI submits Proposal of Application Notice for residential development at Brunstane, Edinburgh

The EDI Group Ltd has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) for a residential-led development at Brunstane, following the decision by the City of Edinburgh Council to include this site in the proposed Local Development Plan.

The masterplan for New Brunstane will introduce a new well-designed neighbourhood into the south east of Edinburgh, delivering homes, green spaces, public amenities and a local primary school. The 49 hectare site which has the potential capacity for 1300 homes will play a significant role in addressing the City of Edinburgh’s long-term housing requirements.

In the next few months, EDI will develop its masterplan in consultation with the local community, stakeholder groups and the Council.
